Tanzania Government Denied False Report About Afcon 2027

‎ The Tanzanian government has denied and dismissed reports circulating in the country that infrastructure construction projects for the 2027 AFCON tournament have stalled.

Speaking to a local radio station, Tanzanian Government Spokesperson Gerson Msigwa said the media had distorted a statement made by the Deputy Minister of Sports who called on local and foreign stakeholders to support the construction of infrastructure for the football tournament.

According to Msigwa, the construction of infrastructure including a new sports stadium in the northern city of Arusha is progressing well. Tanzania, along with Kenya and Uganda, will host the AFCON tournament next year.

The three countries are fighting to accelerate the construction and completion of key infrastructure including modern stadiums before next year.
