Simba Club has reiterated the statement made by the President of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), Wallace Karia, a day before the Kariakoo Derby match played at the New Amaan Complex Stadium, Zanzibar yesterday, Sunday, March 1, 2026.
Through its social media pages, Simba has attached Karia's statement to a video of Seleman Mwalimu's goal that was disallowed in the second half of the match due to offside claims before he put the ball in the net.
The incident has sparked a huge debate among fans and football stakeholders about the decision of the referees who officiated the match. Speaking at the TFF General Assembly before the Derby, Karia was quoted as saying: "A referee who ruins the game, will not only be out of football for life, we will also charge him with charges so that we can arrest him, we will not have any problems.
I am speaking clearly because most of the people who cause us problems are them." That statement has now been given new weight by Simba following the disallowed goal incident.
The match ended in a goalless draw, but debates about the referee's decision have continued to dominate the headlines and social media, reflecting the pressure and intense competition that accompanies the traditional homecoming match.
