The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Simba SC, Crescentius Magori, has addressed several key issues concerning the club, including the rollout of new membership cards and the ongoing controversy surrounding player Mohamed Damaro. Magori stated that the issuance of the new membership cards was initially scheduled to begin on March 27, but the process faced technical challenges in the registration system, which are now close to being resolved.
He confirmed that the club will soon announce a new official date for distributing the modern membership cards, describing the initiative as an important step forward for Simba members. On the other hand, Magori spoke firmly about the Damaro situation, claiming that there are irregularities involving certain clubs exploiting loopholes to register more foreign players than allowed under the regulations.
Magori further revealed that Simba had also submitted a request last year to change the citizenship of some of their players, but they have not received any response to date. He emphasized that such inconsistencies create an unfair environment in the Tanzania Premier League, undermining the principle of fair competition.
As a result, Simba is prepared to take legal action, including escalating the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and formally writing to FIFA. Magori stressed that granting citizenship to a player solely to allow club participation—without any realistic path to representing the national team—is unacceptable.
He also alleged that one club may be using “backdoor” methods to field as many as 13 foreign players, calling the situation serious and accusing those involved of misleading authorities. According to him, giving citizenship to a player who has not even spent a full year in Tanzania raises major concerns about transparency and integrity.
Despite growing frustration among fans, Magori urged Simba supporters to remain calm. He acknowledged their anger but reassured them that the club’s leadership is actively handling the matter. He concluded by stating that Simba has already contacted the relevant authorities and expects to meet them soon to seek clear explanations on why such issues continue to occur.
