Tanzania is ready to host Afcon 2027 .

‎ The Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda is expected to deliver a special message from the President of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, to the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr Patrice Motsepe, confirming Tanzania's readiness to be one of the host countries for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

‎Speaking to journalists on January 16, 2026 at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam, a few hours before leaving for Morocco for the mission, Makonda said the move is a result of the government's great efforts to strengthen the sports sector, especially the infrastructure of stadiums, transport, accommodation and technical preparations that meet international standards.

‎He said Tanzania's decision to host AFCON 2027 would be a great opportunity to promote the tourism sector, strengthen sports diplomacy, as well as boost the economy through jobs and businesses that will result from the tournament.
